They see a river of boiling blood filled with souls who were accused of being violent against other’s, but before the two could get across the river centaurs intercepted them. One of the centaurs called out, “Speak where you stand, if not, I draw my bow” (XII, 63). At that moment, Virgil called out that he has a mission from heaven to lead Dante, a living man, past towards the ninth circle. The centaurs quickly understood and were willing to cooperate with the two men. One of the centaurs, Nessus, had to carry Dante on his back due to the fact that Dante was unable to fly while the ground was unstable to walk on. Nessus was labeled as their guide past the river and explained the situation with the boiling blood. Dante and Virgil were once again stuck in a dilemma but in the end triumphed and were able to continue on moving towards their destination. The moral lesson learned is that no matter where a person is, there will always be some form of help. By receiving help, situations can be less upsetting and more easily accomplishable. There will always be understanding people out in the world and if one just explains the situation, someone will be willing to help. Not everyone has a dark, bitter heart and with the help of others everything can be done
