The Tennessee Highway Patrol is responsible for highway safety on all the Interstate systems and state highways and in some cases all county maintained roads all throughout Tennessee. Thousand of citations are written and thousands of crashes are worked every year on these roads. Unfortunately hundreds of lives are lost every year despite all our efforts, some due to inexperience some to negligence and some to actual criminal acts, State Troopers under regular supervision, performs basic police services in accordance with the mission, goals and objectives of the State of Tennessee and in compliance with governing federal and state laws ("Tennessee Highway Patrol," n.d.).

Yes, it is desirable to have consistent objectives across different departments and agencies; it keeps everything consistent across the United States and while maybe not perfect in everyone eyes, it judges everyone by the same yardstick. The playing field would remain the same whether you traveled from San Diego California, New York, New York or Miami, Florida, an assessment would be worked the same and would look the same no matter would picked it up and what team worked it up.
