For example in the article “Say hello to generation DIY” the tenet that is represented the most is self-reliance the reason why I think this is because in the first sentence of the article it says, “young people are turning to self-employment, and it’s no surprise why-working for yourself is the perfect solution to today’s job market”(Shorthouse 1). This quote shows self-reliance because it is telling people to go out and not be afraid to work on your own because now and days it the best thing you can do for yourself. It also sets the tone for the rest of the article and you can tell it's about relying on yourself and not others. This article also shows other tenets like confidents for example its says, “may have made young people believe more in the importance of their own hard work”(Shorthouse 4). This quote shows the confidence that comes from being self-reliant and kinda ties theses two tenets together and shows how one tenets can relate to another. This is also shown in the second article that I read called “I exit on my own terms”. Now this article is a little different because the tenet that I feel was represented the most was non conformity. The reason why is because there is a very strong quote that says, “history has shown being different had the power to change perspectives and eventually the world”(Ald 1). Now this quote I believe is very powerful because not only does it represent non- …show more content…
One of the texts that we read in class that I feel not only relates to both articles, but also differences is “Walden” by Henry David Thoreau. Now this article relates to “Say hello to Generation DIY” because they both take about self-reliance. In Walden the author says,”Hardly a man takes a half-hour’s nap after dinner, but when he wakes he hold up his head and asks, “What’s the news?”(Thoreau 1). This quote is talking about how civilization relies too much on technology for our daily news when we can just get up, go outside and figure it out yourselves. This relates to “Say hello to Generation DIY” because the whole article is about relying on yourself to succeed and create your own opportunities. Not only does it relate to the first article it also relates to the second article called “I exist on my own terms”. The way it relates to the second articles is because “Walden” also uses the tenet confidence which is in “I exist on my own terms” . For example the articles says, “I wanted to live depends and suck out all the marrow of life”(Thoreau 1). This quote is saying that he wants to live life to the fullest, he wasn't afraid to go out on his own. I feel this relates to the second articles because confidence is what it's about, being your own person and not being afraid that your are different than other
