I want to convey a hearty THANK YOU to you and your employees for last week’s grassroots efforts. Collectively, Tenet generated more than 9,000 emails and numerous face-to-face touches, both in DC and locally, with members of Congress. Tenet’s voice was heard in the healthcare debate and the Government Relations team is extremely appreciative of all our hard work.

STATE UPDATE

Legislative Watch

Today is day XX of the Arizona Legislature and members, staff and lobbyists are still recovering from what local government relations professionals affectionately call “Hell Week 2.” Last week (aka Hell Week 2) was the last week scheduled for committee hearings on policy bills in the House and Senate, except both Appropriations Committees which always get an extra week for hearings.

After the AHCA was pulled from consideration, Chip Kahn, President and CEO of the Federation of American Hospitals said:

"As the Congress regroups after the consideration of the American Health Care Act, we hope moving forward that policy makers will focus on improving access to affordable health care coverage for Americans, protect and strengthen the Medicaid program for the most vulnerable, and restore needed Medicare funding so community hospitals have sufficient resources to continue to deliver high quality care to seniors and the disabled.”

"If the Congress chooses to go back to the drawing board on ACA repeal and replace legislation in the future, it is important that a recrafted plan put patient care first. We stand ready to work with lawmakers on next steps."
