Tena’s Story
Tena is an 18 year old. Who has yellowish skin tone, with light brown hair, and brown eyes. Tena have this blanket she take everywhere with her. Her blanket is white with a mom bear and her children. Of course the Bears are brown. Tena is Vietnamese girl who face racism since she came to Louisiana in 1998. As a young girl in New Orleans, Tena had no idea what was in store for her.

When we were in the 10 Grade that's when we first met. At the time I wasn't up to meeting new people but there was something about her. I and Tena didn't become friends over night. My first impression of Tena was she looks cool but had a nerdy vibe. One friend said Tena was a cool person and very hardworking. She also caring which give her the nickname

Here is her story: During middle school, student including Asian would joke around with racist jokes as though they really didn't mean or affect them in anyway. Well there was this time when a group of student in variety of race came up to me and decide to joke again. This time they harshly and repeatedly asked me, “Did my parent build a boat and sail their way into America?" Did other Asian do the same that's why they intelligent. Is that why so many Asian "Vietnamese” are either so yellow or so dark? How did you come out looking like you do? Since I was by myself I didn't went to reply and I wasn't planning to so I just walked away with great pain and anger but I knew I was the better person. As I walk away I took along those questions and grew because I was disrespected. They didn't have the right to violate my parents or my culture. There action made me wonder why, how would they react if I said the same but I knew they wouldn't care because they've lost repeat for themselves and strongly lost it from me. The anger in me that day made me wanted to destroy the group, each and every one of them but because my parents worked hard and raised me right. I became the bigger and better person. 3.8 percent of more Vietnamese people came here most likely the got racist jokes through at them
