In the 2007 Douglas Downs and Wardle article, "Teaching about Writing, Righting Misconceptions, the focus is on the topic of how to operate a successful first year college writing class. Douglas Downs and Wardle discuss a change to the way in with first-year writing instruction had been taught. The change purposed was based on the results of a test course they developed. The goal of the course was to encourage more realistic conceptions of writing. Douglas Downs and Wardle focus on the concept of Writing about Writing (WAW).…
Hi everyone, this is Diego Chaquea, I am 37 years old and Father of 5 wonderful girls. I am a Colonel in the Regular Army and work as Flight Paramedic working out of Fort Bliss, TX, I have being in the service for over 8 years, and I am now in the process of pursuing a Career in Nursing which is the reason why I have to take this class as a prerequisite. I already have a Bachelor of Health Science and I am a former graduate student from MDC. I am very familiar with this online format and I find this format interesting due to the level of interaction, also challenging since it usually requires more time and assignments that a regular class, but it is very rewarding. I will only be taking this class since it is the only course I need to get…
1. 1. Describe how the course helped you re-evaluate the interaction you discussed in Assignment #1? a. What lectures and readings resonated with your own experiences, and helped you better understand what happened during the interaction?…
Disability affects many Americans. There are many types of disability: visually impaired, hearing impaired, mental and physical disability due to various reasons including many diseases, chronic illness, acquired from trauma or from birth. Nurses play a vital role in teaching these people to be independent in self-care and finding resources when required. Part I Disability…
During this semester I personally contributed to my overall success in the PTAP 2310 class by studying consistently and coming prepared to class. I found that having previously read the chapter and notes, I was able to further understand what Dr. Amite was teaching. This also proved to be beneficial if I had trouble understanding a portion of the chapter I could come with questions. I entered this class knowing that my performance and understanding of the information relied heavily on my entrance into the PTA program. Becoming a PTA is so important to me that it kept me driven to have a complete understanding of the material, even when it was most difficult.…
The best class i have ever taken was "Collage as Refuge". I had to take this class as a last minute resort this past summer and i am so happy i did. I enjoyed it because it first made you choose a place you love, whether it be in nature or a building and visit it every day. we kept a journal on what was going on in our lives. i liked this approach because as many know being a student and working full time can be crazy and to be able to take an hour out of my day to reflect helped.…
Hello Lequante, Hello Prof. Budzinski, Thank you for the positive feedback! It means a lot to me, to be recognized for my efforts. I truly put in a lot of time into my post, which often includes supporting information and encouragement. In the addition to incorporating my personal life experiences.…
Overall, I feel like just about every lesson and assignment were beneficial, and without this simple class, I would not know about half the things I can do on campus. I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to take such an inciteful class, and I cannot wait to use some of the things I learned inside some of my harder…
I am in my first module of the dental hygiene program at Fortis Institute. I came to this school from Harrisburg Area Community College already knowing that I wanted to be a dental hygienist; I have taken numerous dental courses and assumed I knew exactly what I was headed for and how clinic would be, was I ever wrong! This essay will look at my experience in the dental clinic with what I have learned from the observation, how the experience has changed my view of the program, if the experience enhanced or diminished my interest in the field, what fears I have moving forward and what I feel more confident about after the observation. To begin with, I have learned a decent amount from the observation in clinic, but I am only going to hit some major points that I found most important. As I walked into clinic I noticed that the clinic was as spotless as can be;…
To this day, I can only remember three dates: May 30, 2000; April 18, 2017; and January 16, 2015. The first date holds great significance for my friends, family, and relatives, but to me the date is just a reminder of enhanced responsibility and older age. The second date marks the day on which my hard work on merit badges, volunteering, and my eagle scout project paid off: my eagle scout board of review date. However, the third date is the most momentous, as it marks a period of moral and psychological growth in my life. On January 16th, 2015, I observed the unfolding of an unforgettable experience, and, to this day, I continue to draw inspiration from the person at the center of the incident:…
My routine for completing virtual work varies. Either I do work wednesday night, do the work thursday morning, or procrastinate and start working a couple hours before the work is due. I take virtual work seriously, and accordingly try to start early so I can put my best work forward. Something that I will do sometimes is work on the day’s assignment all day taking long breaks in between when the times when I am actually focusing and working hard. I will have started and done the bulk of the work in the morning, yet still be stressed trying to finish up the work and turn it in on time.…
Goal I The first goal of the program was to “Apply major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in psychology to prepare for graduate study or careers in which psychological training is relevant”(). Two classes met this goal, Introduction to Psychology (PSY 111) taken at Anne Arundel Community College, and Introduction to Counseling Psychology (PSYC 432) taken at the University of Maryland University College. Introduction to Psychology was the first psychology course I took many years ago. It was the class I took because I had an empty slot on my schedule.…
I want to be a father because I want to have a child I can love and help grow up. I have no preference whether my child will be a girl or boy, more importantly I will do my best to show my love to all my children. Fatherhood in general has its ups and downs but I’m a very optimistic person that I can’t wait to be a father. I can see myself teaching my child about education and sports. I love soccer and plan introduce my child to the sport.…
After being in this class this semester it has taught me so much about college and answered so many questions I didn 't know. I 'm very thankful to have taken this class which took a lot of stress off my first semester. My goals for the spring semester are to not get into the same habbits of waking up late as I did the first…
When I first began this class I thought that this would be just another introductory class that is required to orient you to the expectations of the particular college. Now, after completing this class, I know that this is not the case. Personal Dimensions of Learning has been a great help, not only to my school work, but also in my daily life. Before taking this class, I thought that learning, and completing daily tasks, were mostly memorizing the order of the way things are supposed to be done and just completing the task. I never liked this strategy, but it always seemed to be the most convenient way to get things done at school, home, and work.…
