An inventor, scientist, and writer, Temple Grandin, has inspired people and created a less stressful environment for animals around the world. She helped people understand what it is like to have autism, and designed livestock systems which were kinder and less frightening for animals. Temple Grandin had a unique way of caring for animals, studying the correlation between animal and human minds and assisting both autistic people along with others around them. To begin with, Temple helped people have a better understanding of the way autistic people think, and created a livestock system company that was kind to animals. An article about her was released in 1993, and she wrote a book about herself soon after (Capstone, n.d). Temple lived on her aunt's farm one summer, which …show more content…
This helped her to have a better understanding of how to create livestock systems that wouldn't frighten animals (Capstone, n.d). She used some of her previous experiences, along with new knowledge, to help turn her livestock system company, Grandin Livestock Handling Systems, Inc., into the perfect fit for animals. Next, she approached science in a different way, sharing the way autistic people think and studying animal minds to create less stressful livestock systems. A variety of people had never heard about the autistic perspective of the world, until Temple released a book explaining how she thought ("Temple Grandin", 2022). Most livestock systems in slaughterhouses packed many animals into a small space and made it so that cows could see what was happening to the others (Encyclopedia Britannica, n.d). With Grandin's new humane system, the cattle could not see the cows ahead of them, and they felt less scared. Finally, Temple inspired others with autism and helped many animals become less afraid. Many people with autism were inspired by Grandin's speeches and books. They finally felt like they could share things about themselves with the public, and be
