My education value was instilled in me at a very early age. My father did not have an opportunity to attend college, and my mother did not attend High School. Now that I look back, I watched how my heroes struggled to raise Six of us. Though my father has passed away years ago, I like to think he sees I am following his and mom’s instructions about education. Now I am a blind and legally death parent who has strived to better myself and show my children that it is very important to have a good education. I find myself reliving the conversation I had with my daughter about owning my own Temp agency. She wonders how can I work being blind?
Because of my commitment in rising my children, In the past I have not been able to devote the time and energy necessary to academic accomplishment. Recently I have tried to continue my education, but money has always been tight. Though now I can work hard on my education and afterwards my goal of owning an Temp Agency for the Disabled. Financial Aid is not an option for me because of changes in the law, I do not qualify. Even though I have not finished my degree, I feel like I am already successful because my 18-year daughter was shock to learn that I was able to receive an A in my Music course. She stated to me, “Dad how can you receive an A in a course when, for one you cannot see and other you are hard of hearing?” Perseverance! After finding this out I notice she started talking more about going to visit different colleges.
