The prince of Verona lets the family know they can’t just be fighting each other in front of the civilians they will be punished. You know not what you do”(1.1 57-58). Benvolio isn’t trying to start a fight he is trying to end the quarrel between the 3 servervants who really have important roles within the family , but benvolio still tries to help them out. For such a good person Benvolio doesn’t get any good karma for what he does because of people like tybalt. Tybalt is a very aggressive fight hungry manniac who is on loyalty steroids when it comes to his family. For example when he is trying to break up that first fight Tybalt comes along and assumes he’s fighting too because his sword is drawn and tells him “What, art thou drawn among these heartless hinds? Turn thee, Benvolio. Look upon thy death”(1.1 59-60). Basically telling him what are you doing fighting these servants fight someone your own size like me , I’ll kill you. All he was trying to do was to keep the peace. Benvolio has every right to go up to him and smack him a good one because he is all in the right in this situation tybalt does not know what he’s talking …show more content…
After Tybalt challenges him , he tells him “I do but keep the peace. Put up thy sword,Or manage it to part these men with me”(1.1 61-62). He isn’t just telling him calm down man i'm trying to stop this beef , Benvolio even offers him to help him stop this stupid fight. Benvolio has a higher IQ than most of the characters in the play knowing that fighting all the time isn't always the right answer.Notably, even when all is well Tybalt is still looking for someone or even something to fight. Tybalt has a very short temper and can easily be pushed off the edge the opposite of Benvolio. When they are at the party and Tybalt sees romeo who isn’t even causing any problems whatsoever he tells capulet “ What dares the slave come hither covered with an antic face to fleer and scorn at our solemnity? Now, by the stock and honor of my kin,To strike him dead I hold it not a sin.(1.5.61-67)” Tybalt almost has no right to just want to fight someone out of the blue like that. Capulet even tells him to calm down he’s not doing anything wrong let him be. Tybalt and Benvolio are complete opposites , but the interesting thing is who can make who break
