The Position
The teller job position through Community Bancshares, Inc. provides quality customer service for both businesses and individual banking transactions. The teller not only manages a cash drawer and performs other teller functions as assigned, but the position also promotes and cross-sells bank products and services. This individual ensures all activities are performed according to regulations and bank policies while reporting to the head teller.
A teller must have excellent communication skills. The teller processes customer financial transactions including deposits and loan business. A large part of this job includes accepting checks for cashing or paying. This entails verifying endorsement, validity, and funds. As mentioned

The job skills require a high school diploma and on-the-job training. A clean background check is also needed due to the fact the job is responsible for handling money. Attention to detail is a must because bank tellers have to be able to process large sums of money accurately and quickly. Bank tellers should also display a friendly attitude since they are consistently dealing with people. The expected hours for a bank teller are normally between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays and possibly Saturday mornings. There is an opportunity to work part-time and evening hours now that banks are opening branches in grocery stores and stay open later. This greatly improves customer service by providing more access to bank personnel for those who are working during normal banking hours. As for dress, bank tellers are expected to wear business casual attire. This often means dress pants, along with a button-up shirt with tie, specifically for males. Many banks implement casual days to be used at the end of the week and employees can eliminate the shirt and tie for a more casual polo shirt. Some other added perks to being a bank teller include the work environment. The bank teller typically works in a quiet, peaceful, and air conditioned building, but are known to work for long periods in a confined space. This allowed The First Bremen Bank to become a part of Community BancShares in 1984. The first Tellerall machine was replaced in 1987 by the drive-thru JEANIE teller machine. The Vinton County National Bank has since joined the MAC and PLUS networks allowing cardholders to access their accounts anywhere in the country or abroad. Chillicothe, Ohio opened two new offices known as Ross County Banking Centers in 1993. These were formerly owned by Society Bank. The organization continued to expand into Canal Winchester and Pataskala. In 2007, Vinton County National Bank purchased additional branch offices in Laurelville and Tarlton. One year later, the Richmond Dale Office and Logan Office were purchased. The First Bremen Bank merged with the Vinton County National Bank in 2009 and Logan added a brand new office in 2011 with the Tarlton Office closing in 2012. The Vinton County National Bank acquired four new branches in 2014 when it merged with the Citizens Bank of Ashville. This included offices in Ashville, Circleville, Commercial Point and Grove City.
