The film animation of Tell Tale Heart was a great adaptation of the story by Edgar Allen Poe because it matched the tone of the story. The adaptation used the narrator to match the tone of the characters being presented. The abstract animation gave the story a lot more power. Poe stresses insanity of the mind and mental illnesses in majority of his work. The story itself was more abstract on how descriptive the character was in describing the old man and his feeling towards him. The environment and time of day makes the story more erie. The depiction of shadows, coloring, and characters that were shown in the video had similar tone as if the word from the story was being presented in the animation. The narrator’s sanity is sensitive and on the verge of a break down towards this man. This old’s man existence ,mainly his eye, really bother’s the narrator because of the way …show more content…
The changing colors from dim, to dark and the camera angles show the nervousness. Sound was a big importance to this scene because he claims he can still hear his heart when in fact that was his own heart beating fast. The camera angle made it seem very cluster phobic even though he was about to get away with the murder due to his own insanity/guilt. The tone of voice in his mind starts to speed up but was calm, but as he hears the heart beat ,having the feeling of suffocation, his aggressive tone starts to increase. The video did a great adaptation of Poe’s story. The animator used poe’s descriptive writing as an outlet to see what color/shades should be used in the background. The narrator speaking as if he was reading the story played a major role which built a relationship between the animation and the words themselves. The animation was suspenseful, and erie. The animation did not stray from the actual story and use the direct words to guide the pacing of the video presentation

Poe uses vivid imagery to make the story more suspenseful. The quote, “It was open --wide, wide open --and I grew furious as I gazed upon it. I saw it with perfect distinctness --all a dull blue, with a hideous veil over it that chilled the very marrow in my bones; but I could see nothing else of the old man's face or person: for I had directed the ray as if by instinct, precisely upon the damned spot.” shows the imagery in here is suspenseful. It uses imagery by using adjectives and repetition. Words like "hideous" and "chilled" creates a vivid picture in the reader's mind.…

The Tell-Tale Heart is a classic story, beloved by many for its dark and creepy atmosphere and its portrayal of a man's slow descent into insanity. It is only natural that one would think to adapt it to the stage, and cost effective too. The story only takes place in one location, only requiring one simple set, and is mostly dialogue save for the murder scene, and even then, fake blood and trapdoors are easy to come by in the drama industry. This particular low budget adaptation included in Encore! is quite interesting when put under the metaphorical magnifying glass, especially with its unique tie in with the classic poem "The Raven." First, the setting of the adaptation, particularly the set-piece used for many of the plays, is an integral…

The narrator displayed nothing but positive emotions towards the old man, yet he conceived the notion to murder him, which shows that he knew the difference between right and wrong. The narrator explains how cautious he was and how he crept into his room every night at midnight for seven days yet did not murder the old man because he did not see the "evil eye". At one point on the eighth night, the old man wakes up to a noise and sits up for an hour staring into the doorway to which the narrator is locked into a trance and does not move a muscle, most likely to prevent suspicion and possibly being caught. The narrator also shows his murderous arrogance by explaining to the audience that he would greet the old man every morning and ask him how his night passed, which shows the audience that he was conscious of his actions because he seemed to get gratification from the fear he was instilling in the old…
