The television program was conceived by the independent producers Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin. Their team was behind most of the creations of the controversial sitcoms during the 1970s and 1980s. Some of those programs include Maude, Sanford and Son, and Good Times which were the top-ten most watched television programs. For being a mid-season replacement and a spinoff from All in the Family, The Jeffersons aired its first episode in January 18, 1975. But the show focused on the lives of a newly rich, African American couple, George and Louise Jefferson. From being a spinoff show, the Jeffersons were the neighbors to Archie and Edith Bunker. In a way George Jefferson is the African American version of Archie Bunker because they are both loud-mouthed and assertive. George and Louise Jefferson lead lives that reflected from money and successful people. It was shown through the home with the expensive furnishings and all of the art that lined the walls. It was aired January 31, 1977. The episode starts off with George and Louise Jefferson arguing about his pillow being moved from off the couch before he took his nap. Then the maid, Florence put her opinion by saying that she threw away his good beer, and proceeds to go make the sandwiches for the guests. Louise goes on to tell her husband George that Jenny and Helen Willis are coming over so they can help them pick out a china pattern. As the doorbell rings it is Mr. Bentley looking for George. Then Mr. Bentley goes on with his conversation about how he was down at the UN and that he received 3 tickets to the Chicago vs. Jets game. So he offered the tickets to George, but as George declines the offer he also rushes Mr. Bentley out the door. As the doorbell rings again it is Jenny and Helen Willis coming over for lunch. Of course George starts off with a smart mouthed conversation with Jenny and Helen Willis, then they go on talk about how Tom Willis. Then as the doorbell rings again it is Tom Willis coming to talk to his wife Helen. He goes on to tell his wife that Mr. Bentley gave him tickets to see the football game. As Helen Willis declines, Lionel walks into the living greeting Jenny. Then as Tom Willis asks Lionel if he wants to go to the game, Lionel realizes that he has to stay and help pick out the china pattern. Then as Jenny insists that Lionel should go to the game,
