Telementoring: What Are The Advantages Of Mentoring?

Decent Essays
There are many advantages to telementoring with the first being that many more students can be reached when telementoring than when having to do “face-to-face” mentoring. We are very fortunate in the DC area to have many resources with people who can come into the schools, however, there are many places that do not have the availability and this allows everyone to have the same opportunities (Siegle et al, 2007, pg. 529). Another advantage to telementoring is more people can participate because there is more flexibility to timing. For example, if you are telementoring via e-mail it can be done anytime during the day at your own leisure. However, if you are doing face-to-face you need to find a time (which is difficult with work/school schedules)

Once I made the decision to continue my education, I searched for MSW programs that were available online as well; since Rutgers is close to my residence and offers an excellent online master’s degree program, it is well suited for my educational needs. 1a- Personally, I have attended several years of elective one on one and group therapy sessions as a direct result of the 911 tragedy.…

Telenursing will enhance the nurse-patient relationship because it allows for personal individual attention, it can addresses and/or manage chronic diseases such as diabetes or hypertension, it allows for early detection of complications, and it can provide safe and low-cost health services. According to Hutcherson, telenursing provides adjunct care and can be done through a phone conversation, two-way interactive video, or using high tech equipment (Hutcherson, 2001). Telenursing not only eliminates the need for travel, which can allow for more time to be spent with the patient, additionally, it allows the nurse to spend more time reviewing and/or reinforcing the patient's treatment plan, provide clarification for questions the patient…

When it comes to your child’s education, it’s natural to want the best. Private schools are a great option for students because of a lower student to teacher ratio and because the curriculum challenges children to put forth their best effort. If you are like most parents, then you know the best education for your child will likely come from a private school. Your child must take the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) to get admitted, which can be time-consuming. Additionally, your child could perform poorly as a result of lack of preparation and the stress of the test if you don't take steps to help them with understanding the SSAT.…

Approaching the roleplay task, I was hesitant, with limited knowledge of tele-practice, I had little faith this would be an effective form of therapy. There was no scaffold to approach this task only prompts, so my partner and I used Facetime as our medium. I realised the lack of physical contact was a challenging barrier, especially with the roleplay patient requiring physio for their ACL injury. This lack of intimacy made it difficult to interpret my clients’ discomfort, as physical manipulation wasn’t possible, making it a rigid experience. Reserves I had towards tele-practice are shared among practitioners spanning out into the field of telehealth.…

In his article, “Stop Infantilizing Students,” Wiltold Zombrowski says that parents and teachers should stop treating students as they are infants. In order to encourage students to actually attend classes teachers should stop posting class lessons online. Teacher should also avoid sending out reminders, to teach our students how to become more responsible. Zombrowski’s position is unreasonable and should be opposed. Three reasons why parents and teachers stopping to help out students is a bad idea include the ideas that posting the class lessons online is beneficial in giving students a resources to look at while not in the class room, having in class assignments gives the teacher a chance to know if his or her students actually understand what’s being taught, and if teachers continue to post reminders online about assignments it will ensure students can plan their time more beneficial knowing what is more urgent.…

Services that fall in this category include accounting, legal advice, education, insurance, investments, data analysis, computer programming, and consulting. Any service provider with the appropriate telecommunications systems can be located anywhere and still performs her job. Working at home has two main advantages (1) decreased costs through smaller offices, and (2) flexibility in hiring additional workers on a contract basis.…
