Telemedicine is the remote delivery of healthcare services over the telecommunications infrastructure.4 Telemedicine is the practice of telecommunication and information that arranges clinical healthcare from a detachment. Telemedicine is a level of telehealth that allows for secluded consultations with primary care doctors and specialists. Telemedicine is a division of telehealth, which includes both remote clinical service delivery and non-clinical elements of the healthcare system. Telemedicine—a telecommunications capability that allows employees to consult with their doctors via two-way video, text, or E-mail.6 There are three types of telemedicine that are very comprehensive which is remote patient monitoring, store and forward, and interactive. More than 36 million Americans have used telemedicine in some way, and as many as 70 percent of doctor visits can be handled over the phone, according to a recent study by the Affiliated Workers Association, a network of professionals dedicated to empowering everyday employees.6

History of Telemedicine

Telemedicine has been around since the 1960s, when astronauts first went into space. In fact, NASA built telemedicine technology into early spacecraft and spacesuits to monitor astronauts ' physiological parameters. Yet other milestones mark telemedicine journey to where it is today.1
