In the words of Virgin Group founder and multi-billionaire Richard Branson “We like to give people the freedom to work where they want, safe in the knowledge that they have the drive and expertise to perform excellently, whether they [are] at their desk or in their kitchen. Yours truly has never worked out of an office, and never will.”. Telecommuting is an important subject because it has a potential not only to give freedom and flexibility to employees, but it also has the potential to increase efficiency and profits for employers. In that case, the purpose of this report is to find out whether or not telecommuting is beneficial for employers to implement.

This is because of the amount of other things you feel required to do while at home. In a survey conducted by the media site, 31% of telecommuting workers states that household chores get in the way of finishing work. TV and pets decreased productivity according to 26% of those surveyed. (4)
Discussion/Analysis

Increase of telecommuting
Telecommuting has been increasing steadily. In the U.S there has been a 20% increase for telecommuting. Along with 80%-90% of the U.S workforce do telecommuting part time. This helps telecommuting become more effective and could save companies tons of money. If people who commute to work every day were asked if they could work from home in Canada, they numbers should be around the same between 80%-90%.

Money being Saved
The money being saved from telecommuting is really something to think about. A business could save $11,000 per year from each employee by letting them work from home and $2000 to $7000 for the employee. This is a lot of money being saved with the same amount of work being done. These results can help companies save money and time from finding a space to run the business
