Teladoc has already integrated the five principles of lean systems to include identifying customer value, focus on the processes that create value, eliminate waste to create flow, produce only per consumer demand, and strive for perfection (Stevenson, 2015, p. 607). Human factors that may impact the design process include safety and liability. Teladoc Inc. operates in a very competitive and technology-driven marketplace. Teladoc must be aware that adding new features to the virtual health care platform increases liability and may increase safety risks for consumers. Consumers may also find it more difficult to use the product and become dissatisfied with the product (Stevenson, 2015, p. 143). Teladoc is looking to enter the global telehealth market, so cultural factors must be considered. It would be advantageous for Teladoc to develop a virtual design team that includes members from other countries. Virtual design teams provide several points of views on product design, decreases time-to-market, improves customer needs assessment in multiple countries, and increases marketability and utility of a product
