Teens Should Not Be Allowed In High School

Decent Essays
Having said that, Teens shouldn’t be given a curfew unless their parents decide to. If a parent doesn’t give them a curfew and the teen goes out seeking trouble, then the teen should be punished if he/she is caught. When a teen goes out and makes a bad decision both them and the parent should be punished because they knew what they were up against. Everyone knows right from wrong and everyone knows how to make their own decisions. A cop is out on the streets to punish anyone who makes the wrong decisions whether you’re a teen or not. Responsible teens shouldn’t have to pay the price because of the trouble makers.

Nora Gold states that curfew laws take away some of the civil rights that teens and young adults have as Americans. Gold states in her essay, “The most obvious constitutional problem is that curfews grant police the power to detain citizens for nothing more than appearing young.” This quote is stating that curfew laws punish anyone who is out after a certain time just because they look young. This also gets in the way of teens who work night shifts for their job or even just being outside their house on the sidewalk (Gold, Nd). Another thing that curfew laws violate are some rights that the teens have from the first amendment, which are not allowing them to go to religious services and even meeting for school that take place at night (Gold,…

A teen who commits the same crime as an adult should not be punished as an adult so justice can be suffered. In my opinion trying teens as adults is ineffective and puts them in danger. They can suffer psychological problems in prison with adults and they can also be abused. In my opinion there are better ways to help them and to serve justice for the people who suffered, but trying them as adults and putting them in prison with adults is not one of the logical options. Teens should not be tried as adults or put in a prison with adults because it doesn’t rehabilitate them in anyway, on the other hand it make them feel worse.…

In this article Juveniles Don’t Deserve Life Sentences by Gail Garinger claims that most teens don’t deserve life because kids are only kids, they need a chance to live. The unintended consequence of these laws was that children as young as 13 and 14 who were charged as adults became subject to life without parole sentences. They were denied access to education and rehabilitation programs and left without help or hope. The rationale for these earlier decisions is simple and equally applicable to the cases to be heard. Young people are biologically different from adults.…

A curfew simply decreases the time period and makes teenagers get done what they have to do in a shorter period of time. Teenagers aren't looking for trouble while they are out late at night, they are looking for entertainment and something to do. Rather than installing a curfew for teenagers, it is a better idea to not let teenagers into some places and adding an age limit unless they are accompanied by an adult. A curfew is again an unnecessary restriction on people's lives. Government cannot control all aspects of someone's life.…

Is it right to ban a group of people solely based on their age? This has been a rising concern with some restaurants wanting to ban teenagers from their restaurant. One of the many restaurants taking up this ban is Munchy’s, who recently released an ad in the newspaper advertising a quiet lunch without teens. However, businesses do not have the right to ban teenagers because it isn’t just teens being disruptive, there aren’t many healthy food options, and this is discrimination on the basis of age. First of all, there are many people inside a restaurant, the absence of teenagers doesn’t guarantee a quiet, relaxing restaurant.…

Three in ten teen American girls will get pregnant by the age of twenty which is approximately about 750,000 teen pregnancies every year, and one in four teens contract a sexually transmitted disease every year.
