Each year there are about 200,000 youth who enter the adult criminal system each year, but studies show that hasier punishment have little or no effect to the amount of juvenile crime that occur each year. So why continue to try the youth as adults? There has been many debut on whether or not teens should be tried as adults. A majority of the public believes teens should be tried as adults because they are old enough to understand their actions also comes with consequences, but I disagree with the public. Teens should not be tried as adults because of the development of the brain during teenage year and the long term effect of being tried as adults.
