Imagine this, you’re standing in line at Panera Bread excitedly awaiting your turn to order, when you notice a couple of teens getting a little rowdy. Before you know it one of the teens is thrown against the pastry case, shattering the glass. You stand in shock at the sight in front of you realizing you can no longer purchase a cookie because of the glass coating the pastries. Now your lunch has been yet again ruined by reckless teenagers. That was an exaggeration, but it still brings me to the standing question, should businesses have the right to ban teenangers? Owning a business can be tough, but add destructive teenagers on top of that and you’ve got a real handful to deal with. Recently a study was done in the St. Louis Outlet Mall where they put time restrictions on anyone under the age of twenty-one, teenagers were only allowed to be in the mall between certain times and on certain days if they were accompanied by an adult. This made the mall more appealing to customers who were looking for a safe and peaceful environment to shop. Having no annoyances in the mall causes customers to be happier which in turn creates a better experience for not just customers but also employes who would not need to deal with as many unruly people as they would have …show more content…
Sales, of course, dictate how well the business is doing and when sales are low businesses have the chance of being shut down. According to Munchy’s business analysis, sales are higher when the majority of customers are adults. So when teenagers come in and are being disruptive adults see that as unappealing and start to look for a new place to go to, leaving the business to now have a majority of their customers be teenagers. Teenagers aren’t going to spend as much as adults would thus causing sales to diminish. As mentioned in the paragraph above, restricting teenagers at the mall was an overall successful in achieving better service. Going along with the study done in the mall, sales had an increase because more adults were coming and shopping in the mall, knowing they would not be disturbed by any
