Decent Essays
I prefer that teenagers should get paid job. Paid job encourage the teenagers to become more responsible, more skills developed and encourage them to save money.

Reliability and responsibility are the most imortnat skills that any one should have to get a respectfull job position. Working in a paid job encourage the teenagers to do their best to get those skills. Of course, teenagers who work for a voulanteer jobs gain the same skills thier peers get from paid jobs. I believe high school students should have jobs, to save for their future and should help their families whenever it is necessary. While working, students can develop the skills needed to handle money. In Etzioni’s article, he assumes that when a teenager gets money, a large amount of it is spent on useless items. However, teens working at “the cash register” (par. 9) realize how important money is to succeed. Many students are saving for college or paying bills to support themselves, to help not only better their future, but…

Chapter 6: Transitions to the world of work In this chapter, the authors insist that the adolescent stage foundation determines and adolescents success in the job market. An adolescent who is used to a lazy life both at home and in school translates the same in the workplace and even if the adolescent finds their dream job opportunity, they end up underperforming and eventually lose the job. The authors insist that it is imperative that an adolescent dot let the fleeting pleasures of adolescence rob them of the diligence that is required in the latter stages of life. The author compares the life of the developing person both at home and in their places of work and concludes that truly there is a relation.…

The teens had to go and get jobs to help support their families and themselves, while going to school . In the research I had learned that some teens could of had at least two-three jobs, “I passed papers, worked at a filling station, and ushered at the theater.” Teens had to go out and do hours upon hours of work to get such little pay. If kids didn't have to worry about trying to get…

No matter the type of job, every teen can benefit from an early introduction of the work place. I disagree with his belief that teen employment ultimately results in the decline of academic performance. His statement cannot be held as true for every teenager who is employed. In fact, working can give a teen the opportunity to hone one’s organizational skills that can be applied at home or in school. Time management is one of the “few skills” a teen can apply when prioritizing different responsibilities.…

The paycheck is given to the teenager for doing little to nothing. Most teens are put at a position of clean up or cash register which doesn’t challenge or stimulate the brain. When teens finally decide to start a career it is going to give them a hard look at life. A larger paycheck no longer means mopping floors and cleaning tables. Careers require education which you seem to lose during high school, while working at McDonald’s.…

Uninteresting, rich adults are the ones deciding that answer, but why should they when they aren’t the ones earning minimum wage? Teenagers are always working minimum wage jobs. It’s “good” money when they’re making only $10 per hour. Try comparing that number to the average adult’s wage or salary. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, teenagers and young adults between the age of 16 and 24 who worked part time earned a median weekly income of $173.5 in 2011 (Weller).…

For the first three years of high school I found myself asking if it was time for me to get a job. Like any other high schooler, I used a skill I have used over the years that I like to call procrastination. I would find myself asking, “How soon is too soon is to start working?” and would somehow convince myself that it’s too early to start. I’ve learned that having a job in high school is more beneficial that being unemployed.…

First, teenagers are unskilled and they need to learn marketable skills that can help them through their working career. However, fast food jobs do not teach many job skills and require very low-skilled workers. Schlosser noted how the fast food industry collects millions of tax dollars to train employees (p. 77). The second way that I believe the two are at odds is the teenager’s desire for social status within their community. Fast food jobs do not have the benefits or status of more desirable jobs.…

People always thought working at McDonald’s is lame, but it depends. For teen-agers, who go to school regularly and don’t have any working experiences, McDonald’s won’t be a bad choice. However, there are some arguments against it due to the long hours and highly structured job without any creativities. In fact, this fast-food chain has flexible schedules, teaches youngsters responsibility and can help teens develop skills which are beneficial for their future career. McDonald’s gives its staff very flexible schedules.…

Age Discrimination Whether they seem too old or too young, people will be stereotyped by their age and this leads to discrimination in the work place. Employers tend to categorize older job applicants as slow, fragile and unable to learn new tricks, while the view younger people as irresponsible, inexperienced and not devoted. Being denied an employment opportunity because of an inaccurate, biased opinion is simply unfair and age discrimination in employment can cause more problems than one might realize. Deciding whether or not to hire someone based upon their age and correlating stereotypes is morally wrong and will not find employers devoted, hardworking employees.…
