In modern times women are looking to make money using their bodies when they're young, little do they know how it will affect them as they get older. There are two main types of prostitution, the first are girls who are willing to throw it all out there for money. On the other hand, you have girls who get abducted at a young age and are sold in to prostitution. Both can affect a person psychologically, physcally, and emotionally. Many young girls who go commercial prostitution are often affected very seriously. Kristin Hom talks about the ages and inability to study some of these effects due to the secrecy of this in her summary of Mental Health Nursing from February 2013 volume 34 Issue 2, p75-81. While this is an easy way for young women to make money, they dont understand the blows they take to their confidence from degrading themselves for money. Putting a price on their body is an unhealthy thing because they won't be able to know their true worth. Not only is it unhealthy on the brain, but "Due to the sexual promiscuity surrounding prostitution, women involved in prostitution constitute a high-risk group for contracting and transmitting STDs, including HIV" (Murphy 1).
