The program that we will be launching will be called Teenage Knowledge, and is set to be launched in Inner City Chicago, on June 25th, 2016. We have many high expectations for this program and we hope that with this in place in one of the lowest income areas of Chicago that this will drastically reduce the ever so high rate of teenage pregnancy. Unwanted teenage pregnancy is an epidemic that has always been an issue in the world, but in the last ten years, has begun to run rampant in low-income areas. Our target population in teenaged males and females aged between 13-18. Teenagers at this stage of life are in their adolescent developmental stage, and there are heaps of changes, social, emotional and cognitive, that their bodies and minds are going through. A majority of teenagers are unable to navigate their way through this stage of their lives without the help and support of parents, guardians or loved ones. Many adolescents need to be taught and assisted on how to handle and deal with all of these emotions and changes that their body and minds are going through, and without that guidance, there could be hard outcomes to handle. Teenage pregnancy is a growing epidemic that is more prominent in low-income areas in the United States of America. With a program such as this in place, we hope to better educate both male and female adolescents on the importance of practicing safe sex, and assist them if they have not practiced safe sex and ended up pregnant.
