The minimum driving age should not be raised from 16 to 18. In my opinion, teens already have a problem getting where they need to go considering their transportation is usually their parents. By the time they come home from work they are too exhausted to drive anywhere else. Starting out early than waiting until one becomes a legal adult to drive gives a teenager an opportunity to exercise responsibility and to have some independence. Just because teens are prone to do reckless, irresponsible things does not necessarily mean they will get into accidents because they are younger.…

Teenagers wait for the special day of transitioning over that imaginary age line that provides them with special, new privileges of becoming a young adult. Along with those special privileges comes great responsibilities as well as painstaking requirements. In America, eighteen-year-olds are capable of voting, pay taxes, operate a motorized vehicle, become a legal guardian, marry, fight and die for a country, own a gun, and even become governor of Rhode Island. What is it that a teenager always wants to do seems to be one of the most widely known answers in the U.S. People under the age of twenty-one are constantly told every day that they are not allowed to drink until it is legal. Well that obviously never seemed to stop any of us, hence…

The fatality rates are found to decrease once teenage drivers attain the age of eighteen. This is because, at this age, judgment and maturity are part of their responsibility. Even though this may be seen to be just a two-year-old difference, its impact is much significant, especially when the teen has to make a rushed decision while driving (Heath 5). Research shows that sixteen-year-old teenage drivers have the highest fatality compared to other age groups. They make more silly mistakes that result in grisly accidents causing more deaths through reckless driving.…

A widespread opinion in the United States, and presumably elsewhere in the western world today, it that teenagers are irresponsible and emotional, not to mention ungrateful. While these traits may not necessarily be the fault of the teenagers themselves, rather the society and the ways in which they were raised in, this opinion is still present. Along with this opinion is the assumption that they cannot be trusted with large cumbersome responsibilities. While it is true that teenagers can be emotional due to fluctuating hormones and at times irresponsible, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they cannot have an effect on the world in which they live. Three prominent examples of these in fairly recent history include Mary Shelley, Christopher Paolini,…
