There are many ways to reduce the numbers and one method is to allow 15 year old girls to obtain over the counter emergency contraceptives. Emergency contraception a.k.a.…
Teen pregnancy is one of the leading issues in the United States, according to the CDC-About Teen Pregnancy, in 2015, a total of 229,715 babies were born in the United States to women aged 15-19 years old, with the highest rate belonging to the Hispanic/Latino ethnicity. Although the birth rates have been declining from previous years, with a 8% decline in Hispanic/Latino community, they are still considered two times higher than any other group. It is not common to see Hispanic teen mom back home. Growing up in Santa Maria, Ca. you would see many female Hispanic teenagers dropping out of school to raise a child and sometimes the father dropping out looking for a job or finding another girl and leaving the “baby momma” to raise their child…
Teenage pregnancy is a social and familiar problem throughout the United States. Young girls, nineteen years and younger, are becoming mothers. Considered to be one of the most controversial and nationally issues, teen pregnancy has declined. However, the predicament continues to appear in vast numbers; especially in the state of New Mexico. Currently, New Mexico is ranked 50th in teen pregnancy rate, and 46th in teen birth rates.…
In the year of 2014, approximately 250,000 babies were born to mothers aged between 15-19 (CDC). The most important question posed now is, why are these teen pregnancy numbers so high? Is it because teenagers are uneducated in the risks of sexual activity? Is it because teenagers are too scared to confront their parents about going on birth control? The latter of the two seems to be more of a realistic reasoning.…

They cannot financially take care of kids because they do not have any money, and also they are being taking care of by their parents. In the article, Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention, it states, “In 2013, a total of 273,105 babies were born to women aged between 15 through 19.” Many people believe that shows like “16 and Pregnant” promote teenage pregnancies, but I think the shows deters teenage girls from becoming pregnant. In “16 and Pregnant” many mothers struggle through stress, go through breakups, and go through being isolated. In this specific show, many mothers show that stress is built during being pregnant because most of them are still attending school; Consequently, they have to manage their time better and try to get ahead before they give birth.…

Teen pregnancy is an area of focus for many public health professionals due to the public health and economic challenges that oppress the mother and child. Poor health outcomes and lower educational and economic achievements as a result of adolescent parenting (Svoboda, Shaw, Barth & Bright, 2012) have triggered the establishment of prevention programs aimed at lowering teen pregnancy rates. As a result of successful prevention strategies and increased contraceptive use, teen pregnancy birth rates for women between the ages of 15 to 19 years old has decreased to a historic low in the United States’ general adolescent population (Hamilton & Ventura, 2012). However, teen pregnancy rate in the U.S. is still one of highest amoung industrialized…
Pregnancy Among Teens Teenage pregnancy has been a prevalent issue in our society for many decades. Defeat the Stereotype Proverbs 24:16 says, “For the righteous one may fall seven times, and he will get up again, But the wicked will be made to stumble by calamity.” If God forgives, why do we let other people’s opinions get to us? There are teenage girls who do not come from a religious family or even a family who cares, which may lead them to make the wrong choices. Having sex before marriage has many risks, but becoming pregnant at a young age can be one of the toughest consequences to deal with. But who says there is no hope for them?…
Adolescent Pregnancy among Latinas Although adolescent pregnancy has been steadily declining, the Unites States is the highest rated country experiencing adolescent births totaling 57 pregnancies per 1,000 females in 2014 (Sedgh, Finer, Akinrinola, Eiliers, & Singh, 2015). Furthermore, nationwide adolescent Latinos have the highest birthrate, totaling 81 births for every 1,000 Latino adolescents (Dehlendorf, Marchi, Vittinghof, & Braveman, 2014). These statistics persuade views of Adolescent pregnancy as cause for public health concerns (Sterling & Sadler, 2009). However, in order to implement programs to educate Latino adolescents about pregnancy prevention we must first examine adolescent sexual activity, contraceptive use and unintended…
