The effect teen pregnancy has on the mothers in substantial, from conception to life after birth. How do most cases of teen pregnancy occur? Adolescent females are likely to answer either out of “readiness” or peer pressure. In the case of “readiness”, we describe readiness as feeling as if you are mature enough to make the responsible decision to have sex, and understanding and accepting the responsibility of practicing safe sex, for not only you but for your partner as well. One the other hand teens describe their decision to have sex in their adolescents’ as a significant weight placed on them by their comrades. They took a urine sample and basically just flat out told me I was pregnant. The first thing I went through was denial. I really was not wanting to hear those words at that point in my life. My next thought was more along the lines of concern with having to tell my mother more other possible questions going through my head. Regarding long term I wasn’t necessarily worried about the outcomes following my pregnancy. I experienced helping raise children while looking after my younger siblings and younger cousins and felt as if I was a little more prepared than most. The dictionary definition of abstinence is the fact or practice of restraining oneself from indulging in something. Many teens say that, that is easier said than done which is understandable but many companies have come up with a solution proven to be 99.9% effective and that is to practice safe sex, every single time you decide to engage in sexual intercourse either via condom, birth control pills or other contraceptive options.
