Teen Drug Abuse
Since the mid 19th century, drugs always have been part of human life. Drugs today affect most of the teenagers in our society. There are many reasons why teenagers justify their use of recreational drugs. Many believe that taking drugs can relieve them of boredom and also they believe it can help them cope with stress and make them feel happy. In my opinion everyone should stay far away from drugs, because drugs can have a very negative effect on their physical and also their mental health. Also when teenagers are addicted to drugs, their social life greatly affected. If you use drugs your brain function will decrease and so you can never achieve what you wanted to do. You can never become a doctor or a lawyer, a teacher or even a good parent. You may also loose your job. The most famous and recent example is what happened to the mayor of Toronto. Because the mayor of Toronto used drugs, he might loose his position at City Hall. According to Warawa :”No member – no member of our city council, no mayor should be doing something illegal like smoking crack”.(Quoted in Hume par.6) In closing, I suggest that teenagers and people in general should stay away from drugs and also other people who do drugs. It is important to choose the right friends and stay in a healthy good social group. It is easy to use drugs to run away from problems in life, but there are more healthy ways to deal with these things. Having good friends and family and a healthy life can help solve most of life's problems. It is mostly because of drugs that we have so many problems with our youth today in our society. If one-day drugs are eliminated from our society, the world would be a much happier place.
