In the past year, 5,864 teen drivers ages 15-20 were involved in a fatal car accident and an average of nine teens are killed every day from motor vehicle injuries. Young drivers also from ages 15-20 account for 13.2 million of total drivers on the road. What can we do to prevent these fatal accidents? It is suggested by many that we as a society must try to prevent these accidents by passing several driving limitations to the public. These limitations would include the time in which young drivers can drive alone. The number of passengers the driver can have in the vehicle at that given time, and providing young drivers with the opportunity for more experience as they prepare to get behind the wheel by themselves. I believe that enforcing these limitations may influence the driving habits of not only this generation to be safer behind the wheel but also past generations and the generations to come.

As much as they might object, many of these limitations are already being enforced in many states and countries. For example, it is required for every teen driver to have their learner's permit for a period up to six months in order to get their license. Regardless of their age or their score on the test, they are required to have six months of driver's experience prior to the issuing of their driver's license.
