Whether it is between teens or even adults, partner violence may be occurring intentionally or unintentionally. It isn’t easy to come out to parents or peers saying you have been a victim in partner violence, so sometimes it goes unspoken which can be problematic. Even if you haven’t heard of anyone being involved in dating violence, it is important to know it is happening regardless if it is being spoken about or not. The National Institute of Justice points out that not much is known about teen dating violence till this day. This is because researchers mainly focus on adults and not teens. The adult framework can be problematic in many ways. If you look in terms of development and socialization, researchers don’t put the early stages of life “in effect” when studying partner violence. Bringing awareness to teen dating violence is important and is a huge step that can be taken. The community can come together and provide information about partner violence through sessions that may be involved with psychologists that could give lots of feedback with what they have heard when having clients involved in teen dating violence. Since not everyone in a community will attend these sessions, I believe targeting the youth can decrease rates of teen dating violence. Middle and high schools should provide information about what exactly teen dating violence is since this is the period in a adolescent child’s life when they start dating. Schools can have assembly gatherings dedicated to teen dating violence. I know one effective way students can learn about dating violence is when it is being shown to them, for example, a violence scenario that is being acted out in front of the audience. If students see their peers, or even others show them what exactly dating violence is, it can educate the youth that dating violence is a problem in todays society and can teach them how it can be
