A teen who commits the same crime as an adult should not be punished as an adult so justice can be suffered. In my opinion trying teens as adults is ineffective and puts them in danger. They can suffer psychological problems in prison with adults and they can also be abused. In my opinion there are better ways to help them and to serve justice for the people who suffered, but trying them as adults and putting them in prison with adults is not one of the logical options. Teens should not be tried as adults or put in a prison with adults because it doesn’t rehabilitate them in anyway, on the other hand it make them feel worse.…

This sometimes results in the children not learning their lesson and later going on and behaving the same way. According to Jennifer Jenkins from the article “On Punishment and teen Killers” she states, “16 or 17 year old is capable of forming such requisite criminal intent”. How would you feel if your child was sentenced to life in prison? On June 25, 2012, the Supreme Court ruled that juveniles who committed murder could not be sentenced to life in prison because it violated the Eighth Amendment’s ban on cruel and unusual punishment. A justice of the majority claims the immaturity, impetuosity, and failure to appreciate the risks and consequences. Including the background at home, usually you cannot extricate someone from their environment at home. There is no doubt in my mind that minors should be tried as an adult or sentenced to life in prison.…

A rise in juvenile crime is becoming more and more of an issue in the present day. The only way to resolve this problem is to start sanctioning violent juveniles as adults. Juveniles should be able to be charged as adults in court because they commit violent crimes, they know the difference between right and wrong, communities would be safer, and juveniles would be deterred from committing crimes in the present and the future. Even though they are younger, juveniles are just as capable of committing the same violent crimes as adults. When they do, juveniles should receive the same sentence for committing the same crime.…

The minimum driving age should not be raised from 16 to 18. In my opinion, teens already have a problem getting where they need to go considering their transportation is usually their parents. By the time they come home from work they are too exhausted to drive anywhere else. Starting out early than waiting until one becomes a legal adult to drive gives a teenager an opportunity to exercise responsibility and to have some independence. Just because teens are prone to do reckless, irresponsible things does not necessarily mean they will get into accidents because they are younger.…
