Most people don’t take action when something is wrong because they don’t think it’s their problem. If you saw something bad happening, the question is, would you step in? This essay will include teen activists, Malala Yousafzai, Alex Libby, and Faye Carey. These activists all worked hard to achieve their goal of helping their community or even making a difference in the world. Teen activists take a stand for what’s right after their experiences against their cause. Teen activists are hard-working, dedicated, and most significantly, passionate. One of many teen activists’ who are hard-working is Malala Yousafzai. Yousafzai was hard working by never giving up on her passion of giving (mostly girls) education to underprivileged …show more content…
One teen named Alex Libby was being bullied day by day on his way to school. He was kicked, punched, and even stabbed with pencils. No one noticed how sad he was or the things he was going through everyday. His parents saw him at the lowest point of almost committing suicide and they saw that they couldn’t keep him home from what goes on at school. One way Alex is dedicated was when he found inspiration when director of the film The Bully Effect (Lee Hirsch) came up to Alex and explained his bullying experiences with him. Lee thought he could use Alex and document his life being bullied everyday. Lee set up cameras in Alex’s bus and what they saw was disturbing. The kids on that bus were throwing things at Alex and making fun of his appearance. This demonstrates his dedication by doing whatever it took to expose those bullies. Another way Alex shows his dedication to stop bullying is when they made the short film go viral and thousands of more people were in progress of making their schools bully free. Alex starred in the film and spoke in front of people to explain to never give up. “It’s not you, it’s them” he says. This is what is called passionate. Carey works at a pound and is “...A giant help with transporting dogs,” according to Mr. Oliver. “She really restores my faith in the community out there. She does a great job helping out.” Faye works and spends her time feeding and bathing these animals when she can. Faye created a FaceBook page (Animal Re-home Waikato) that took off; it was for dogs who needed a home and were ready to be adopted. She takes photographs of the dogs and posts them on her FaceBook for people to adopt. Before, Faye would simply print out flyers and hang them up in their neighborhood. “My passion is to work with animals and people who are in need of love.” Faye is helping to rescue abandoned dogs as well. While Faye is in high school for two more years, she wants to keep working with animals. She hopes to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian to aid even more animals. "We picked up a puppy in the pound the first day I went to Animal Control and then on my last day he was still there and I felt really sorry for him," Faye says. After she saw that the puppy was still left in the pound she went on TradeMe and posted a picture of him for people to adopt. The puppy got lots of love and eventually went to a new home in Auckland. This is when Faye realized she had a passion for helping others. Faye Carey is passionate about her cause
