Ted Turner Research Paper

Success is continuously attempting at an impediment until at long last conquering it and being content with the results. Ted Turner, the creator of Cable News Network (CNN) was indeed successful in his life by overcoming personal problems, financial issues with his business, and by creating multiple broadcasting networks. Turner was born the eldest of his siblings, Robert Edward Turner III on November 19, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Growing up, Turner’s father, Robert Edward (Ed) Turner Jr. would physically abuse Ted in result of suffering from bipolar disorder; Ted later discovered that he too had bipolar disorder. Turner was abandoned by his family during World War II when his father left to the Navy. During this time, Turner stayed at a boarding school in Cincinnati and was later enrolled in Georgia Military Academy. He then attended a McCallie, a boarding school in Tennessee in 1950. In 1956 he enrolled in Brown University but did not graduate and his parents divorced in the same year. 7 years later, in 1963, while struggling to run his business and cope with his disorder, Ed Turner shot himself. After taking over his father’s business after his death, Turner made the business highly profitable and renamed it to Turner Broadcasting System (TBS). He later went on to create two additional and extremely successful networking companies, Cable News Network (CNN), the world’s first 24—hour news station, in 1980, and Turner Network Television (TNT) in 1988.
