The video I chose was a Ted Talks video with scientists James Hansen who spoke out about climate change. James Hansen has written and published many articles and books about climate change and also worked with NASA for a period of time to help developed an experiment to fly to Venus. James Hensen's climate observations truly began in 1981 when he joined other scientists to analyze and publish an article in a science magazine that observed that the earth was warming 0.4 degrees Celsius in the century before. The developers of the article came to the conclusion that their research was consistent with the greenhouse effect which meant there is an increase in CO2 on earth.
In the video, Dr. Hansen explainers how "adding CO2 to the air is like throwing another blanket on the bed." What he meant by this comment is that there is more energy coming in than going out so thus creating the earth's energy to be out of balance.

When Dr. Hansen compared the extra energy on earth to 400,000 Hiroshima atomic bombs, it made me very curious as to how big that bomb really was and the damage it did. The fact that this much energy is lurking around our earth alone is terrifying because imagine how dangerous that could be not only for the human race but also the earth and everything else living in. With that amount of energy comes radiation. The definition of the word radiation is: "the emission of energy as electromagnetic waves or as moving subatomic particles, especially high-energy particles that cause ionization" ( Radiation, 2017). If the amount of energy that is being absorbed is as much as Dr. Hansen says it is, then we need to immediately start finding ways to lower the CO2 here on earth so our earth will start to give off enough energy to create equilibrium in our earth's energy
