It is craved for on a hot summer day for it’s frosty sweet taste. It may be unhealthy for its sugary content but it’s too delicious to resist. That is the frozen custard, “a frozen dessert resembling ice cream, but having a lower butterfat content and a flowing consistency” (Collinsdictionary.com, 2017). It is a satisfying dessert that almost anyone would love. One of the most popular places in St.Louis that sells frozen custard is Ted Drewes. Ted Drewes have been around for over 85 years, with the first one being in Florida in 1929. The person who started it all was Ted Drewes Sr., and his family is still continuing his success. Waiting lines for Ted Drewes are humongous during days with warm temperatures because of its mouth watering custard …show more content…
For an example, the store has received a 4.5 star out of 5 star on Yelp with 901 reviews (Yelp.com, 2004). 901 reviews are enough to determine the accuracy of the rating. Compared to only 20 reviews that could be fairly biased, the average of 901 reviews has to be satisfactory. However, not only has it received a 4.5 star, it has also received an award for the best ice cream in the world by Sool-nua’s World ICECREAM Index. It is one of St. Louisans favorite places to snack at after traveling to many of St.Louis’ popular places. Their motto is “Our Business Is Service”, a motto that inspires generations of employees and family members to work hard and pay close attention to the store, to see what they can do to maximize customer satisfaction. For an example, on 1985, Ted Drewes Jr. expanded the serving windows from five to twelve at the Chippewa location. This increased the serving speed which meant less time for the customers to wait. The customers are also very satisfied with Ted Drewes’ frozen custards. For example, an excerpt of a review on Yelp says “Somehow we ended up going for custard while it was 29°F outside, which is probably not the optimal time to visit an outdoor frozen dessert stand. But it was worth it to introduce a newbie to Ted Drewes and the world of midwestern custard.” (Yelp.com, 2004). This part of a review gives us an insight on how satisfied customers are for Ted Drewes’ frozen custards. The person who made this review, was willing to venture out in the 29oF cold to eat frozen custards which shows even though it’s cold, eating frozen custards is still worth it.
