Worldview refers to a person’s own conception of the world. It can be a main factor in an author’s books. Ted Dekker wrote from a Christian worldview and it was portrayed in Dekker’s novels. Ted Dekker is an American author of mystery, thriller, and fantasy novels. His works include the Circle Series, A.D. 30, and A.D. 33. Ted Dekker uses his own Christian worldview in his books, which are shaped by experiences in his life.

Dekkers’ studies in school shaped his writings. After graduating from a multicultural high school, he chose to study philosophy and religion (“About Ted Dekker”). Dekker's path to writing was a very long and involved process. The process was very tedious. He went from a corporate world to becoming an entrepreneur. Later, he decided to author books. Following Dekker’s completion of his Bachelor's Degree, he entered the corporate world ("About Ted Dekker"). Dekker then climbed the “proverbial ladder“, but it left him restless ("About Ted Dekker"). Dekker left the corporate life for entrepreneurial pursuits ("About Ted Dekker"). The entrepreneurial pursuits included buying and selling businesses, healthcare services and marketing ("About Ted Dekker"). In the nineties, Dekker decided to become a novelist like one of his friends ("About Ted Dekker"). Dekker had the gumption to write very graphic novels ("About Ted Dekker"). Dekker sold his business to start his writing career ("About Ted Dekker"). Two years and three novels later, Dekker's first book was published ("About Ted Dekker").
