Theodore Robert Cowell, also known as Ted Bundy who killed 40 women. Bundy’s mass spree went unseen for a number of years because of his personality and lifestyle. Ted Bundy was born in Burlington, Vermont on 24th of November 1946 to his mother Eleanor Louise Cowell and his father Lloyd Marshall and on Teds birth certificate his father was a salesman and Air Force veteran. (Rule, 2000), Ted’s family suspected that his mother Louise may have fathered the baby with her own violent and abusive father, although this was never proven. Children who fail to form a secure and loving relationship with their caregivers are believed to experience a range of issues including emotional, behavioural and social problems, which contribute to the antisocial personality disorder (Levy et al, 2004). For the first three years of Teds life he lived in Philadelphia home of his grandparents Samuel and Eleanor Cowell, were they raised him as their own son to avoid the social stigma at the time of his birth. Family, friends, and even young Ted were told that his grandparents were his parents and that his mother was his older sister, Ted Bundy was exposed to pornography at a very young age. Ted had gained a university degree in Psychology in the year of 1972 but he dropped out after being depressed from a break-up with his girlfriend. He was also accepted at a law school in Utah. Ted Bundy’s criminal background was of car theft and Burglary but by the age of 18 his record was obliterated. Ted admitted to thirty-six killings, across three states in America, but experts believe that the final count may be closer to one hundred women. As one quote, what she described Ted Bundy from her book which was called The Stranger Beside Me, is a 1980 autobiographical and biographical true crime Ann Rule described Ted Bundy
