He was abducting women who resembled his ex-girlfriend who broke his heart, raping them, and then murdering them. He had over 30 victims, but it is believed that he has over 100. Ted Bundy committed rape and murder in 7 states: Washington, Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Florida, Idaho, and Vermont.
• In all 7 states police had ongoing investigations and were communicating trying to connect all their cases together against Bundy.
• Ted Bundy came to the law enforcement's attention when one of his victims escaped and went to the police. She described Bundy’s appearance, his vehicle, and items he kept in the car. When Bundy was pulled over for suspicious behavior officers searched his car and found burglary items that matched the description given by the woman who escaped from him. The woman later picked Bundy out from a line-up.
