Spring 2017 Ted Bundy By far one of the most scariest serial killers in the world, Ted Bundy “charmingly” killed over 30 women within 4 years. Grown up in our local college town Burlington, Vermont, Bundy lived a life that he didn’t know was a lie. A few years later moving to Philadelphia and living with his grandparents is when Bundy found out the truth. He never met his real father and his mother was brought up to him as his sister. His mother had him out of wedlock and to hid the shame the family thought it was best for the grandparents to raise him. That’s when things started getting shaky. From the Lisa Levy’s case (which was the sorority home in Florida) she happened to be bit twice on the buttock and once on her roommates breast. Getting a picture of the full and complete bite mark they were able to enlarge the photo to match a print of the measurements and molding of Bundy’s teeth impressions. When they explained to the jury what Odontology was and how the way teeth are very unique to a person helped convict him in that trial. They left in his VW Beetle and he tried handcuffing her to the car, luckily she escaped and got in front of another car who helped her out. When they retrieved Bundy’s car there was trace evidence of hair from the struggle of her fighting Bundy. From our knowledge of hair evidence you can tell when a hair has been pulled out due to seeing a follicle or if it naturally has fallen out due to the three stages which are anagen, catagen, and telogen. Since we all know just hair evidence alone isn’t particularly unique can just help classify like the color and medulla, we were lucky enough to know she saw him for a while in the car and she was able to pick him up in a line up. Testimonial evidence played a role in this case as well as physical evidence. Finally, the last evidence I looked at was fibers. As we all know Locard’s Exchange Principle was one of the first things we learned this year has been very interesting to see how much
