There are many things about the Civil War that changed America. For example, there is the emancipation proclamation which ended slavery. With black people gaining rights, America was able to enlist them in the war. With this in play, the North gained more troops and even got slaves from the South to come fight for them. It was a strategic move for Abraham Lincoln, and he pulled it off splendidly. All of these actions made the North win the war in the end, but they were simply acts. It’s true that these events made the North win, but are those the only reasons?

The idea of the weapon was that once it made contact, the bullet would flatten out. This would cause bones to break easier. On the edges, there were spiral grooves that went around the bullet, in turn; the barrel of the gun had grooves on it’s inside to make the bullet spin. This made the bullet faster, but more difficult to load. Having gunpowder residue collect inside the barrel made it harder to load the more it was used. Also, the bullet wasn’t called the Minie Ball because it was small. The French army officer Claude-Etienne Minie named it after himself. He, however, was not the first to think of the idea of the newly made bullet, simply he improved past inventors designs. Britain's captain John Norton (1818), and William Greener (1849), were designers whom though of the idea. People have been used to pass information for years, but what if it was even faster? The Telegraph was this milestone. Messages could be sent in seconds in a code from miles away. In a year alone, 1,200 operators were trained to decode and send messages from one place to the next. It may seem like this invention was just a prototype of a phone, but that is only half true. The Telegraph used used code, as mentioned earlier. To communicate, there were a series of clicks and spaces in between them. Letters could could be decoded by how many clicks there were, the gap was to go onto the next letter, and a longer click to go on to the next word.
