Technology is a part of the evolution of humans, without technology our society would be the same as it was a decade ago. Although some people believe that technology is taking over our society it is honestly just giving us a new way of being distracted. Our brain is like a toolbox, as we get a new form of technology it is like adding a new tool to our toolbox. When we get new technology that is dramatic it produces a new kind of human being. Just because we as a society is connected to technology does not mean that we cannot become disconnected just as easily. Although we as a human race are getting more technology advanced, we as a human race can also control our addiction to technology just as easily. Have you ever used a hammer? We are known as the digital native 's, if you put all of us together on an island we would honestly not know how to survive. Ever since we were children there have been cell phones, or computers to distract us when we were bored. You then have the digital immigrants who are now adults that grew up with out technology and had to learn how to communicate with it as they got older. People born in the digital native era have a different kind of knowledge then digtal immigrants do. There are two different kinds of technology, there is passive which is also considered cold. As well as active which is also considered hot. Now cold technology is basically internet, so facebook, instagram, netflix, or video games. That form is the addicting form, when you hear about people becoming addicted to technology that is usually what they are talking about. The other form is hot, this is something like phone calls, or text messages, fax 's something that has a notification when you received one and it is important that you check. You can still choose if you would like to check that notification or not but active has more of an urgency to it. Where as passive is being unaware of what you are doing. For example if there is any moment that I am just standing around or waiting for the teacher to come to class or during commercials while watching the walking dead I inadvertantly pull my phone out at …show more content…
We do have a disconectiveness but we always have, at first it started with books, people would keep there face barried in a book to get them out of this world and into another. It then turned into computers, which then turned into cell phones, which then turned into tablets and so on and so on. The more technology we have and the further along we get is not making us an addictive society it is just helping us add more tools to our toolbox. You have the power to let those tools take over your life or to just be a part of
