When you think about technology you think about cell phones, television, social media, etc. It can be found all around you, such as in restaurants, at school, and in your home. Machines and technology are drastically changing the way we live. It has changed our cognitive abilities, the way we communicate, and how it effects our bodies. The movie Wall-e plays a big role in showing these changes, but over exaggerate how far they will go. I don’t believe humans will get as bad as those in the movie, but society and technology are changing.
The movie Wall-e is about a robot that is the last robot left on earth. He cleans the earth and tidies it up while developing a personality. Wall-e becomes lonely during the 700 years he is there until one

Email was created in 1972 by Ray Tomlinson. Email is a form of technology that acts as a representation of writing letters. Email allows you to send a message and hear back within minutes. Most businesses use email to interconnect with customers and send out coupons or inform them of events, and to communicate with staff about work times or closings. Email is also used in schools. Elementary school teachers can use email to communicate with parents about their children. High school and higher education systems can use email to communicate with students about homework and assignments. This also gives the student a chance to get in touch with a teacher if they have and immediate question and to hear back almost immediately with the teachers answer. Email has made it easier to communicate but it was also taken away from vocally talking to someone and being able to hear the expression of their voice. In Nicholas Carr’s article, “Is Google Making Us Stupid”, he expresses, “As we use what the sociologist Daniel Bell has called our ‘intellectual technologies’- the tools that extend our mental rather than our physical capacities- we inevitably begin to take on the qualities of these technologies.” There are many violent video games sold today in the United States that reward players for their violence and killing. This convinces them that these actions are acceptable and cause aggressive thoughts (The Positive…). If the kid/teen is playing their video game all the time and not spending time with others, it can cause that kid/teen to be socially isolated (The Positive…). Video games also have a positive affect on kids and teens. They teach kids and teens how to follow instructions (The Positive…). A lot of Nintendo games start of with instructions on how to play their games which teaches kids that if you don’t follow these instructions then the game won’t work. It teaches that they should always follow the guidelines, listen and learn what they are tying to achieve. This prepares them for the real world and they don’t even know it. Video games teach hand eye coordination by requiring a handheld controller but having to look at the screen to see what they are doing (The Positive…).
