Technology is taking over, in the United States 8 hours of a person’s day is spent on the Internet, scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or one of the other many social media sites that are on the Internet (Jason Karaian 1). It is as well shaping the way people communicate, do business, or learn. As more people are being able to use the Internet, more and more family time is getting taken away, or any social contact. As someone may think these “social” media sites will keep them up to date with everybody, it is actually doing the exact opposite. Yes, it may keep the up to date with what someone is doing in another town, but they are not talking to the person face to face so they are not really gaining any contact or becoming close to this person. People who are constantly surfing the web are also becoming less aware of what is going on in society or in family relationships. As someone uses the Internet more they become addicted and keep getting more and more acquainted into being on the Internet, then slowly it will start destroying relationships. Deleting it from Facebook does not mean it is gone forever. It will always be on the web somewhere. There are websites that can find something posted from 10 years ago that was deleted, and open the post or picture back up. These are the sites the FBI uses against the people in their investigations, to find out information needed in a case. The people using the Internet all the time may also become very addicted to online games, social media, and other time-consuming things especially in youth. They spend less time in their real lives and more on their virtual lives, with fake friends or people they think are their friends. These fake friends could also be people not described the way they are on the
