Technology, is it too much?
How many times have you checked your phone since you started reading this? Possibly none but now you want to. You want to check your Twitter, to see a new tweet or maybe even to write one. It’s an urge you have. You may want to open Snapchat to send a snap or to open your friend’s stories to see what fun things they are doing while you sit here and read this essay.
We can call, we can text, we can e-mail, and we can tweet, all thanks to one device; your smartphone. Britons spend an estimated 62 million hours each day on social media. Now that is a lot of time seeing as there is only 24 hours in a day and according to the 2011 census, there are approximately 63 million people in Britain. Therefore that is about 2 hours per day, per person on social media. The fact that that is only social media and nothing else is worrying. We can’t live without it. I personally cannot go many places without my phone or some kind of smart device. I go everywhere with my phone, I’m certain that the only time I’m not constantly looking at my phone is when I’m sleeping or when I’m in class, but even then I have the urge to look at my phone. Think of a time when you’re not with your phone. It’s hard to do, as we humans are too dependent on technology.
Technology has evolved so far since the first phone we now have smart watches, Ipads, drones, touchscreen laptops, smartphones and many more important devices. These devices make life a lot easier than it could be. Technology is so simple to use nowadays that anyone can use it. You don’t have to be a super genius to use it unlike in the olden times when technology was starting to emerge. Technology is also very cheap which mean everyone can own a phone or laptop, which in turn can help with their everyday
