Benefits Of Technology In Education

Technology in education has gone through an immense change over, not only over the past 10 years, but over the past 100 years (Dunn). While in grade school, my classes had not yet hit the current level of technological advancements. Classes still had chalkboards and there were no kids with iPads. Nowadays some classes provide iPads to be used in the classroom. Technology and education have advanced along one other and have benefitted from each other. While many argue that technology in the classroom is not beneficial, I believe that it is beneficial because it allows students to learn in different ways that enhance their learning, it allows students to have access to things that can expand their learning, and it prepares these students for life when they leave school.

Technology connects students to a massive amount of resources that they can use to add to their learning. These resources include websites, PowerPoint, Excel, word processors, and a number of others (Starr). These resources can be used be students in a school capacity for things like projects, assignments, or just to look up something new or something learned in class. Students can use technology to look up things they never even imagined and things that they aren’t taught in school. For example, they can take a topic that they learned from their teacher and use their technology and new knowledge in order to find new things online that they can learn. This can allow them to be excited about learning and enable them to want to learn more. There are even apps that can be used by students that make learning fun, but also enhance and expand things they learn. Technology has the capability to allow students to expand their learning in ways they never deemed
