One of the first benefits is it is easier to get in touch with the world. For example “Yachty took soundcloud by storm this year with his single 1night getting 1.5 million listens a week” (Wang 5). With communication having a drastic improvement from 20 years ago; it makes musicians and artists like Lil Yachty get recognition and become famous in “1night”. The second benefit is it helps make life easier. Insight says “the good news for diabetics is that, though technology can’t beat the disease, it can make living with it a lot easier and less stressful” (Meek 3). Through the advancement of technology it is easier to collect data and make medicine for those sick and better their lives. This leads to the third point. Today’s technology helps help further the development and investigation of researches. According to the American Pharmaceutical Review “Innovation through automation and single-use technology, has led to efficiency improvements” (Krista 1). Today’s technology helps researchers conduct better experiments and collect more informative and accurate data. While there are many pros, there are also many …show more content…
The first harm is young children have personal access to technology. Express.co.uk states “4 in 10 three and four year olds have access to a tablet” (Wace 9). Toddlers using a tablet or phone can create problems such as they become anti-social, get anxiety, and many other behavior problems. It can also stunt their comprehension because they become so dependent on the tablet. The second harm is there is any privacy. This is seen when “Craig Allen Bailey, a Michigan Man, was recently arrested for sending obscene photos to minors via text, which he did after finding their cellphone numbers through Facebook” (Obbard 4). With social media it is hard to stay private. It’s practically an open invite to your life. This, as seen by the citation, can’t always be a good thing. While you can make your account private, many people don’t do that. The third harm is it is affecting our food. After completing an experiment “A distinguished Hungarian scientist working in Scotland, was forced out of his position when he announced experimental results revealing harm to rats fed GMO potatoes” (Unger 23). Companies like Monsanto create genetically modified organisms (GMO) that have been directly linked to 22 diseases, including autism, depression, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. If that doesn’t convince you that GMOs are a danger, Monsanto recently purchased Bayer, the company that created heroin, and plan to work together to help “advance” agriculture.
