Technology simplifies lifestyle; everything gets easier as technology develops more. It is required in almost every sector in this world. Higher education can greatly improve if technology was to be incorporated into its system. The technologies that are in use currently have a great impact on the higher education system; this, however, is not appreciated by everyone. Due to lack of awareness and other constraints, the technologies are not fully accepted and integrated into the system. As per (Joy et al., 2014), a teaching grid developed at the University of Warwick and applied there for 30 days resulted in positive reactions from the students. The teachers were allowed to have an experimental space where use all the kinds of technology that were available in teaching the students. The students, therefore, became eager to use such interesting technology in their learning. Their attitude was totally friendly to the new technology.
Importance of technology in higher education
The need for technology in higher education is almost inevitable. It is for this reason that the technology has to be incorporated into the system in by any means possible. The technology is of great importance in higher education.
Foremost, the use of communication technology greatly contributes to the students? self-identity; especially in the case of disabled students. According to Boyd (2014), online based communication platforms enable the disabled students to have the freedom and choices of self- representation.
