Writing 303 One thing that help simplified social workers in their field is technology because as technology is increasing there has been many ways for social workers to interact with their clients. Social workers may interact with their clients through social media. Instead of the client having to come into the office the social worker can video chat, send instant messages, make a support private group. This will save time for the social work and client as well. The development of new knowledge, policies and programs often result from research. The internet today is worldwide. It has worked its way into every corner of our lives including in our professional practice, and it is here to stay. Technology has intimidated our economic and personal security which has changed the face of communication eternally. Therefore, the social work profession needs to adapt its standards of practice to meet the challenges presented by our world that is changing. This means expanding the way we think about social work ethics which should include social media. Social media requires that social workers reframe how they think about privacy, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and has challenged us to establish new ways to better service our clients. Question asks about the problem and its possible solutions through social workers being able to communicate with clients through social media are: Should you look on your client’s social media? How do you confront your client’s friend request on Facebook? What happens if your client starts to follow you on Twitter?
