“It would be easy for someone to set up a partial combination on the Hound's ‘memory,’ a touch of amino acids, perhaps. That would account for what the animal did just now. Reacted toward me.” (Bradbury 24) Montag is worried because of the hounds themselves and how they reacted to him after he started to think rebellious thoughts. The hounds are both a scare tactic from the firemen and a machine to do its dirty work. This idea is comparable to the 1984 film titled “Terminator.” Now if you know anything about the film you know that the Terminator is a time traveling killing machine. This killing machine does indeed relate to the hound in the way that it is sent to do the dirty work of the future’s government just like how the hound does exactly that. The terminator also strikes fear into the people. Even the ones that coincide with the government are afraid to do anything the government might deem as wrong and have the terminator come after them. That is a fear tactic used to keep the people in line such as how the hounds can be portrayed in Fahrenheit
