Technology In Public Schools

I feel like it should be required for Public schools to teach their students how to write in cursive because it is an important lesson that should be used in every day life. I think that just because technology is getting more advanced it doesnt mean that everything we learned by being taught and remembered through memory shouldnt be forgotten. We should be able to use our brains and gain knowledge that can help us remember and become familiar with certain misunderstandings. When we write using our hands we use our entire brain capacity because it's a learned talent that stays in our mind. Every student in the future should have a choice on what they want to learn and dont want to learn. Some teachers dont use cursive because they …show more content…
Technology is getting so popular and growing so fast that it's changing our daily activities and taking away our freedom. Our freedom to choose how we learn the best to our ability. A lot of students who have disabilities will struggle with remembering, reading, and even understanding. We should have a mutual agreement that all students should have a say in how they want to get their education. Learning by hand and doing things that will expand our mind should be a big deal. Everybody is becoming to independent on technology that its changing our world. Thinking and learning are two main things that are brain needs to comprehend on its own with the help of constant attention. You cant learn anything if you cant understand it or remember it which is why writing in different fonts can help. There should be a balance between technology and doing things on your own. Lastly, I agree that cursive is an important, powerful brain tool. It helps people maintain their memory and comprehension. It's been proven that it has helped many people with disabilities and disorders, mental health is an important trait. Hopefully in the future technology doesnt rid of everything that helps us with life and getting our education, every student is different and learns differently. Things shouldnt be so simple we should be capable of learning on our own

Cursive Writing In my opinion cursive writing should not be used in schools because they waste lots of time in schools. There are 9 schools that teach cursive writing like North Carolina, Tennessee, California and much more schools that teach cursive writing. Schools waste too much time trying to teach students how to write cursive writing, they will not know how to read cursive and they can write notes about someone. To start with schools might waste so much time on their students trying to right cursive and then they might not be paying attention and they could have a test on it and get an f. They could write a message about someone in cursive and they do not know how to read it and it could say…

Some states are trying to bring cursive back into their school learning program, so that kids know how to use cursive. In my opinion, I think that cursive should still be taught in school today so that kids can have cursive to use if they get tired of using regular print in school. First cursive can help by taking notes faster so students will not fall behind and miss any of the notes need to take in college, Next cursive helps the left and right brain cells communicate better, lastly cursive is a skill that everybody will need to know for later in life. Also cursive makes the left and right brain cells work together so each side of your brain works better together. The brain cells working together can help because it can make think harder about stuff because of the cell communication.…

Cursive is a primitive style of handwriting, but it still should be taught in classes. Just like article "Cursive Is a Powerful Brain Tool" states, "Cursive is a common teaching tool for students with dyslexia. " Cursive gives everyone a new way of thinking. Although when writing cursive you're still using the same letters, it may come more swiftly to someone because not everyone is the same. The passage "Cursive Is a Twenty-First Century Dinosaur" fail to realize that technology may be getting better, but you will need to still need cursive for your signatures at least.…

If what the author one says is to be believed, then teaching cursive in schools would still follow the guideline of providing tools for our children to apply knowledge and skills to future endeavors. In the many conversations with my children regarding the matter, as well as other various subjects, my biggest defense was always claiming that the teachers knew better than I. After have read both the above articles I agree with the opinions both authors and think both are equally valid. Just because technology has stripped away usefulness of cursvie writing, and just because we have smart phones with calculators on them doesnt mean we should still teach the basics. Teaching cursive should be taught just as math is even though we know technology defeats the entire purpose because learning the skill is more important than how we utilize it. Teaching students how to write in cursive, in my opinion, gives the students a better grasp and can help them in…

Imagine that some people were reading the Declaration of Independence, and they don’t know the first thing about cursive. They need to know how to read cursive to understand the Declaration of Independence, and they need to know how to write cursive to take notes from the Declaration of Independence. In my opinion, cursive should still be taught in schools today. First, cursive writing should still be taught because of your signature. Next, cursive writing should still be taught because cursive promotes focus.…

Should we let cursive die? Should it become a relic of the past. Should it be replaced just as a quill gave way to pens and how typewriters gave way to computers? In this day and age cursive is a useless skill but it is still something that is taught in schools. Cursive should no longer be taught in schools because it is unnecessary in a digital age, it takes time away from teachers to teach other topics, and it has no special values or benefits compared to other forms of writing…

Cursive writing, such a wonderful art; exercises the mind, improves the speed of writing ten-fold. Not to mention the best part, you dont even have to take your pen of the paper. I understand it a dying practice, but when there is no other easy way of doing things cursive will no longer be an option if it keeps getting put to the side right along with latin. as stated in the article "Cursive Is a Powerful Brain Tool", "Medical scans show that writing in cursive helps with fine motor skill development and stimulates both left and right parts of the brain." which to me is just another type of exercise altogether.…

While some people believe that cursive may be a powerful brain tool, others believe that it is no longer a need. I agree that cursive writing is good for people to learn, for many reasons. Though some say, "you barley use your signature anymore more, things have turned into pins or thumbprints for proof of identity so its not really used anymore.'' You still need to be able to know how to sign your name, and other important paperwork that requires you to do so, such as job applications, doctor or hospital documents, and lots more.…

While it may be useful in signatures and reading old documents, otherwise, it provides no other uses. In 2012, at a conference hosted by Zaner-Bloser, a company that makes cursive textbooks, handwriting teachers were surveyed on what type of writing they used. It turns out that, “Only 37 percent wrote in cursive”(Gladstone 3). If adults think that cursive is important, then they would be writing in it more frequently. Also, it seems as if even politicians, the people who implement the common core, do not seem to care as Pam Roach, a state senator in Washington State, drafted a law that would require the teaching of cursive.…

No, I don't believe schools should be required to teach cursive writing. Having computer skills I feel is more important in this day and age than handwriting is because of how rapid technology is growing and how rapid technology use is increasing. Just like article 2 stated, cursive isn't really needed for much other than a written signature but as technology increases the use of a written signature is more irrelevant due to approval of electronic signatures. I do believe cursive handwriting is becoming less useful in todays society, but I do believe that there are benefits related to cursive handwriting. I agree with article 1 that cursive writing is good for our minds.…

There are less reasons why people should be taught cursive from time to time. First of all most people and students don’t require cursive anymore and go to printing. Cursive should still be taught because studies show that 50 percent of literacy is cursive and it’s a tool that you can apply and gives you more options. Some examples to show that cursive should still be taught today are, you can write faster, you will need to write a signature, and you are more literate if you can read and write cursive. Although some people think cursive should not be taught is because everybody says that we don’t have any time for it or that we already use technology. Well, yes we have the technology, but if we only know how to use technology, then what are we to do if we find something in cursive, suppose maybe a letter from older generations, if we can’t read it because we only knew how to type. That’s just some facts of why cursive should be taught today.…
