The Future of Technology Essay

In the movie Minority Report, technology is quite advanced. Humans are also used as a technological object. The movie makes a prediction of what the United States will be like in about
50 years or so. Minority report also shows how technology shouldn’t be abused and how we shouldn’t take things for granted.

As I had stated previously, humans are used as almost a sort of technological object. These are called “Pre-Cogs”. Pre-Cogs are a triplet of mutated humans. They predict when a murder is going to happen, who the victim and the perpetrator is, and if it was a crime of passion or not. The Pre-Cogs are hooked up to a computer and they tell the precrime division all the information they need as to how to stop the murder before it happens. In a way this is a good idea because it’s stopping people from committing murder, but it also has a major con. What happens if the said murderer changes his/her mind? The precrime division doesn’t know that and they will arrest an innocent person. This changes a lot as far as someone’s rights.

I think that most common jobs will be taken over by some sort of industrial science. Most restaurants today have waitresses and waiters using an iPad or a tablet to get orders to the kitchen without having to go back into the kitchen area to tell the chefs. Think about what it will be like in 50 years from now. No one will know what a waiter is, they’ll just be taken over by a computer or something of the sort. This kind of idea is not good for society as it takes away jobs from people. Being something as simple as a waiter is a big deal because people that have no education can easily get that job whereas if waiters no longer exists, there’s higher chance for unemployment. Because of this, technology should be used

Technology has taken over our lives. It has become nearly impossible for anything or anyone to function without the affiliation of today's modern technology. Robots, one of the most convenient and efficient types of technology, are beginning to replace people in factory jobs. Some may not adhere to this, arguing that there will be a monumental deprivation of jobs but, infact, it creates more jobs. Many products that people use on a daily basis are produced in factories by people.…

The machines that were invented during the 19th century actually expanded the need for more jobs and even produced other types of jobs afterwards. This allowed more people to work because the machines were so simple to use, anyone was able to get hired. Robots on the other hand, is going to cause a reverse effect. They are going to wipe out jobs entirely. Lets say for example, Mcdonald’s decided to replace their workers with robots, which will save them tons of cash in the long run due to not having to pay robots a salary.…

While I do not agree with the views of the authors, I do agree that technology will only continue to grow and there will be benefits. Although I see concerns with this article, I can also see the impact this situation will have on our society over time. In just the last decade, we have seen technology grow, and shrink immensely. By shrink, I mean we can fit what used to be a 60 pound computer system into our pockets. With the decrease in size, the increase in popularity seems to only be growing.…
