We should seek for the wisdom that can only be found in the sacred scriptures. I found a very interesting article about how religious affiliation is dropping in America. ( Back in 1990, about 8 percent of the U.S. population had no religious preference. By 2010, this percentage had more than doubled to 18 percent. That’s a difference of about 25 million people, all of whom have somehow lost their religion. Today, we get a possible answer thanks to the work of Allen Downey, a computer scientist at the Olin College of Engineering in Massachusetts, who has analyzed the data in detail. He says that the demise is the result of several factors but the most controversial of these is the rise of the Internet. He concludes that the increase in Internet use in the last two decades has caused a significant drop in religious affiliation.) This data is from over 20 years ago, I sure the results of today's survey will surpass that number substantially, this article cited the following statement which I totally agree with (" Using the Internet can destroy your faith. That’s the conclusion of a study showing that the dramatic drop in religious affiliation in the U.S. since 1990 is closely mirrored by the increase in Internet use." ) This article speaks clearly of the heartbreaking reality America is facing due to advancement like a mentioned at the beginning of my essay, although all of these innovated advancement have make life better in many aspects, it has put us behind in the most important aspect of anyone's life; Humanistic ability to love, respect and be kind to one another. Morality has no price and so much worth. I hope there will be the day in which we can all enjoy this fascinating ability to communicate through the many channel available, and that we share the message of love, tolerance and forgiveness. Technology is not bad, for the

Texting has become the main form of communication, so when kids get home, how can they look at each other in the eye if they just text? Another study has shown that children's social skills are affected negatively when they multitask with technology.…

In the last century and a half, technological advancements have transformed American life at an unprecedented rate. The most significant effect these technologies have had on the U.S., and the rest of the world, is an increase of opportunity and influence. While technological achievements are often remembered for their improvements to American and global life, these same innovations have a history of bringing about a proportional amount of detriment to the world, although this comparable shift in scale often goes unnoticed. For instance, where medicines and vaccinations have become more refined and accessible, weaponized diseases and synthetic toxins have seen similar growth in their efficiency and availability. Understanding this technologically…

This century is full of exploration, but instead of using devices that get us no where to finding treasure, we have strengthened our minds and created the best technology around for things such as finding metal on a beach with a metal detector to something called a mailbox that has found hundreds of dollars worth of coins. In the passages of Florida Waters Treasure Hunters (by Scott L. Key), Weather Reconnaissance (by Harriet Jane Caldwell), and High Tech Search for Ancient Civilizations (by Juan De Los Santos) we are addressed to technology that is so advanced for researchers and explorers today, with the devices structure and efficiency. In the 20th century, we have learned about techology for civil wars, World War 2, and more, but we have…

Mainline Protestant groups as well as Catholics dropped approximately three percentage points from 2007-2014, with evangelical Protestants also seeing a decline within the same years. However, this group of those who are the religious unaffiliated, comprised both of individuals not raised in a faith tradition in those who have left, is second in size only to evangelical Protestants. Along with an increase in religiously unaffiliated people there has also been a slight increase in other world religions, specifically Islam and Hinduism. This study provides a snapshot of contemporary religious life in America; organized religion is still a factor in the majority of American’s lives, yet the homogeneity of that religion is not as established regarding what religion, if any, people…

Lawrence Hoffman makes an interesting observation about the religious norms in modern society. Hoffman claims that “modern society disempowers religion” because Americans have freedom to choose to be religious or not. This freedom of choice has contributed to the decline in religious values. Further, Hoffman found a “pew study” that discovered more young Americans are “less religious than older Americans.” Young Americans have liberal views and are more accepting to same sex marriages and absorption.…

The world we live in today can be best described as the “age of modernity”. Technology has come to define the smallest aspects of our lives. We are able to interact with millions of other people through social media networks – regardless of gender and age. What we seek and desire is “MODERNITY” – in the way we dress, the way we work, the way we live in this society - and in this process, religion becomes the first casualty to criticism. Misconceptions about Islam usually center on Sharia – the Islamic Law.…

Untethered τέχνη “…The only thing that restrains science is the sense of the sacred.” Dr. Warren Gage The polls tell us that we as a collective whole are becoming less religious and less concerned about sacred and holy things, at least in the Western world. At the same time we are becoming more and more entranced with science and technology, what the ancient Greeks called τέχνη (Techne). Most people walk around with a fairly advanced computer that we call a smart phone.…
